Hi, I’m John Carlo Pattaguan

An IT Operations professional who started in technical support and grew into systems leadership through a simple philosophy: trust, adaptability, and continuous learning. My career was never about chasing titles. It has always been about taking responsibility, listening to feedback, and building systems that last. Alongside my professional work, I serve in ministry, lead multimedia initiatives, and continuously develop my creative and technical skills to serve people well.

From Support to Systems Thinking

My path in tech was defined in college when my professor offered me my first role providing WordPress technical support. This hands-on experience sparked my fascination with how the platform powered everything from simple blogs to full-scale business sites, leading me to build projects and take on freelance work before I even graduated.

In 2017, I joined LevelUp as a WordPress Technical Support Specialist. The team was small, and our processes were still being built. What started as resolving individual technical tickets gradually evolved into a larger mission. Over the years, I transitioned into IT Operations, where my focus shifted from solving immediate problems to improving long-term systems.

Today, as an IT Operations Administrator, my work revolves around reliability, security, and operational clarity for our remote setup. My core responsibilities include:

  • IT Projects & Systems Implementation: Leading the execution of internal IT projects, identifying new tools to improve workflows, and managing rollouts from planning to company-wide adoption.
  • Employee Onboarding & Asset Management: Managing the full lifecycle of access permissions, device provisioning, remote setups, and secure offboarding.
  • Security & Compliance: Implementing and enforcing security best practices , conducting audits, and ensuring data privacy compliance.
  • IT Support & Troubleshooting: Serving as the primary point of contact for remote teams, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Technical Web Support: Collaborating with the marketing team to manage staging-to-live deployments and website feature updates.
The WordPress Community

WordPress is more than just a software tool to me—it is the open-source platform that made my career possible. Because this platform gave me my start in the industry, getting involved in the WordPress community is my way of giving back in any way I can. Volunteering isn’t just about contributing; it’s a continuous cycle of growth where I gain new knowledge, build global networks, and sharpen my collaboration skills alongside amazing co-volunteers.

IBecause I love taking photos, I found a way to merge my hobby with my desire to give back by volunteering at various WordPress events. This passion has even taken me across borders to volunteer internationally! I’m proud to have served as:

  • WordCamp Organizer – WordCamp Asia 2025
  • WordCamp Volunteer – WordCamp Taiwan 2024
  • Local Volunteer – WP Manila Meetups
Faith, Media, & Service

I serve the Lord Jesus Christ at Word of Hope Caloocan, where I currently lead as the Multimedia Head.

In this role, I use my skills in photography, videography, editing, and media production to support church services and ministry initiatives. It allows me to combine my technical expertise with my creativity in service of something greater than myself.

My faith deeply shapes how I approach both my work and my life. I believe that talent is stewardship, excellence is worship, and growth is a responsibility.

The Values That Drive Me

I live by the biblical principle that whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Everything I build—whether in operations, media production, or community organizing—is rooted in these core values:

  • Trust over titles: Responsibility is earned through reliability.
  • Continuous learning: Growth never stops; the systems can always improve.
  • Service before recognition: Impact matters far more than visibility.
  • Integrity and faith: Character is what sustains long-term success.
Why I Created This Space

This website reflects my journey—from support to systems, from daily tasks to long-term thinking, and from career growth to purposeful service.

I created this platform not just to list achievements, but to document growth. Here, I share lessons from remote work, technical insights on WordPress, reflections on leadership, and my creative expressions through a camera lens.

While a page like this naturally highlights the positives, the truth is I am still a work in progress—learning discipline, fighting procrastination, and continually striving to grow. There are days when I need a reminder of why I do what I do. Having this space allows me to scroll back through old posts, realign my perspective, and reignite that burning fire inside.

It is a personal archive, a tool to keep myself grounded, and a platform to contribute value to others who are building, learning, or serving.
